I love his dramatical work.

Back in October, Danielle and I went to Detroit to visit Kelly. While there, we watched Waiting for Guffman. By some disgusting twist of fate, I'd never been introduced to the genius of Christopher Guest.

For a proper introduction to this masterpiece, Kelly, Leah, Danielle and I gathered around the tv. I've never done theater work, so I was concerned that I'd be oblivious to some or all of the jokes. The magic of Corky St. Clair rises above ignorance. I laughed. Kelly laughed herself off the couch. I laughed some more. The movie ended. The relentless quoting began. Some people find it ironical, but three months later, the laughing and quoting continue.

Scouring the web this morning, I discovered a great interview with Christopher Guest. He discusses his films, the dialogue improvisation, and the source of comedy. It's an interesting look into Guest's intelligent comedy mind. If you haven't seen his movies, rent them. If you think this next quote is true, you'll enjoy them.

I'm attracted to performers who are not very good or successful at what they do and yet take themselves enormously seriously. That's the basis of nearly all my comedy.

If that's the case, I know there's at least one movie about Daniel Küblböck in his future.

Oh god. I HAVE to play Daniel.

Oh oh oh! I LOVE that you posted a Corky entry on my birthday.

Isn't he Jaimie Lee Curtis's hubby?

Not very good or successful at what they do???? Hello, I know you saw the screencap of Daniel on Ich Bin Ein Star...Holt Mich Hier Aus in which they title him a "superstar." Sounds pretty successful to me, my good man. But hot damn, I need to see that movie.
