Like a fastball in the middle of the plate

Rep. Tom Davis, aka Congressman Loose Cannon™, offered an interesting insight into recent political events. Consider:

Davis, who previously chaired his party's congressional campaign committee, also offered a critical analysis of the state of his party, saying that while there is time for a turnaround, the president and the GOP must find a way out of their current problems or face major difficulties in the 2006 midterm elections.
...

Were the Democrats not so disorganized, he said, Republicans would be in even more trouble. "This is nothing more than an organized conspiracy to seize power," Davis said of the Democrats. "This is not a group of people who are of like mind" on the issues, he said.

I don't disagree about the Democrats, but let me pose a question. When Rep. Davis called the inquiry into steroids in Major League Baseball, how was that not a conspiracy to seize power? It may have involved one sport industry, but Rep. Davis seemed to enjoy threatening MLB with greater congressional control if it didn't implement a policy banning a drug that's already illegal. I don't think any major sport in America explicitly bans its players from money laundering, drunk driving, murder or income tax evasion, yet we never have hearings about those, even though players have been involved in all of those offenses. Is that because MLB has antitrust exemption, leaving it under your control?

Only bullies do something just because they can. I know you were protecting the children, but you might try coaxing your fellow House Republicans into spending less money if you really want to do something for the children. You'd even be helping future children with that one. Otherwise, I just think you're involved in your own organized conspiracy to seize power.

I have no idea why I am answering this. But I think it very ironic that the Republican party is being called the party of spenders. If I didn't think this was true I would LMAO. But There are some of us Republicans who are still very fiscally savy. And come election time we will prove our point. But the thought of a fiscal Dem Is sooo laughable.

I don't think all Republicans are fiscally irresponsible. Just the few hundred in Congress.
